KLPac Open Day 2011

KLPac is back with an all new journey.Basically,KLPac Open Day is a festival of art whereby they create awareness in appreciating the beauty of art. Here is a little history for those who don't really know about KLPac.

It started way back in the year 1995,Dato'Faridah and Joe Hasham built the first privately owned and also operated this theatre in Malaysia. Before KLPac got this name it was formerly knowns as The Actors Studio which was located at Plaza Putra. In the year 2003,there was a massive flash flood and it destroyed this theatre. This incident lead KLPac to be created together with the helping hand of the Actors Studio,YTL Corporation and Yayasan Budi Penyayang all joint forces to establish the first art centre.KLPac is a non-profit organization and it was officially welcomed to the community in May 2005.Well,enough said about KLPac history.Let me take you to the world of KLPac since it was their open day.

I went with my college mate Fatin to KLPac around 11am.When we stepped foot at KLPac,we were surprised to see the turn up was amazing good.It was packed and for every showcase the place was literally full. The show lined up for the public varied. There was Bollywood performance, storytelling, comedy, dance, music and etc.

Fatin and I enjoyed every single performance.Fatin was lucky as she had the chance to learn the "Gamelan" which is a traditional music instrument. We also had the opportunity to learn hip hop and my goodness it seemed easy watching on television but trying to get the steps in sequence took a few times to be perfect. We also went to watch a comedy by Monti and Logi. They happen to be a member of toastmasters and they started being stand up comedians in the year 1999.They were totally hilarious from the start to the end.Fatin and I could not stop laughing our heads off.

Moving on,we went to watch the Balinese dance by Max Roswell. His just amazing. He had the most outrageous body structure for a man his age.I never knew that Balinese was a fusion of indian and malay dance movement.Fatin and I got too caught up with his performance. We loved the part whereby he invited the audience to learn a bit of Balinese and somehow we knew he was fooling them.Fatin and I was laughing when he shouted at the audience "1,2,3,4,5 shut up". He was being cheeky.

We then had our lunch at a stall there. After lunch,we went to watch Dewangga Sakti perform. This group was awesome as they were playing recitals from joget to drama and etc. While hearing the joget recital,it reminded me of my primary school time where I learnt Joget Kelantan. It was such a nostalgic moment for me. After that,Fatin and I quickly dashed to watch Mime.Mime is a performance where someone acts without any sound but it tells us a story.Fatin and I were too focus on this performance but we had our share of laughters as well.

At about 3pm, we decided to grab an ice-cream each.Somehow while we were in the queue, it started to rain.Fatin and I was happy as it was raining and we were about to eat ice-cream.The feeling when eating ice- cream under the rain was just priceless. After the ice-cream,we headed back for the next performance by YCOM standup comedy. This was the bomb. We literally were non-stop laughing due to the sense of humour and stories shared was hilarious.

At about 4pm,we headed to see the hip hop dance.Well,Fatin and I were upset as we thought we could see performance but end up they were having lessons.Anyway,we came off that class and decided to see KLPac's Got Talent. When we arrived to the venue,we happen to be watching the final contestant perform but we enjoyed it tho. After that,we were thinking of going home but another performance caught our attention. It was the Malaysia World Fusion Music. It was amazing.Fatin and I were clapping our hands to the beat of the rhythm and we sang to the song "Rasa Sayang". We finally agreed on going home as it was drizzling too.No doubt we were dead tired but we went home with a gift and that gift is called memories.
